The Imperials have been making music since 1964 and have undergone many personnel and stylistic changes before returning to the close harmonies and straight Southern gospel songs that initially made them popular. As of the mid-'90s, Armond Morales is the only charter member of the Imperials; he and Jake Hess founded the quintet. Over the years, 18 different singers, including such legends as Russ Taff, Paul Smith, and Gary McSpadden, have come and gone. Other CCM pop performers, such as Jonathan Pierce, also started with the Imperials. Terry Blackwood is the son of Doyle Blackwood, original co-founder of the Blackwood Brothers Quartet. Terry's distinctive vocal styling has been featured on many chart-topping singles. He is associated with two highly acclaimed vocal groups, The Imperials and Andrus, Blackwood & Co. You may have seen him as a featured soloist on many Gaither Homecoming videos.

Over the years, the Imperials have released over 40 albums with 14 number-one songs. They have also won four Grammy Awards and 13 Dove Awards, making the Imperials one of the most popular Christian bands ever, despite (or because of) their many style changes. This group fits the bill for a concert like no other in Gospel Music; booking this group is not an event, but an event!
